WHAT SHOULD I DO WHILE I’M IN TOWN?

Explore Newcastle city center and check out the quayside, get a 15 minute train to Durham and take in the historic city, think about the Roman empire (literally) at the World Heritage Site Hadrian’s Wall, or jump on the subway and head to the beach at Tynemouth, and more!

Is the venue accessible?

Yes, the venue is fully accessible.

There is a Metro station - Haymarket - a 15 minute walk away.

The nearest car park is on Claremont Road.

Drop off via taxi or car can also be arranged.

There will be space for storing bulky items like prams, wheelchairs or walkers, or anything else that will make your day easier.

Are children invited?

Yes, absolutely!

What should I wear?

Dress to impress! Dig out those sequins and sparkles, that dress you’ve always wanted to wear but never had an occasion, your finest suit, or anything in between.

Alice is going to wear a white dress, Andrew will wear a suit FYI.

Does the building have any sort of cool history or legacy?

Andrew is so glad you asked! The Palace of Arts in Exhibition Park, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne is the last surviving building from the 1929 North East Coast Exhibition. The Exhibition was an ambitious project built for a World’s Fair and its purpose was to celebrate and encourage Craft, Art, and Industry at the start of the Great Depression.
